Trench warfare would have affected the families of the soldiers as while the soldiers at war, there were no men in Australia to do the jobs that only men can do. The affects were less money going around the families and the families would have felt many feelings for their husbands and sons such as worry, sadness, pity, love, proudness and hope. The families would have felt worry as they would have worried about the well-being of the soldiers and sadness from being alone or away from their husbands and sons for so long and if they had been killed in the trenches they would have felt a very deep sadness.

The families would have felt pity for the soldiers as the conditions that they were fighting and living in were horrendous as dead bodies and rats littered the floor. The families would have also felt happy feelings like love and proudness for the soldiers who are put are putting their life on the line every day in the trenches for the wellbeing of their country and motherland. The families may also have felt hope in that the soldiers would return not harmed too badly.
