The families of the soldiers would have found it hard to live without the man/men of the house as there are a range of jobs that generally only men can do. The women in the house would have needed to get a job to help pay for food and other necessities. In some families the children may also have had to get a job. This was hard for the families as most of the time only the men had a proper job making the women and children of the family unused to it. The women and children also would have been giving money so that more bullets and necessities could be bought for the soldiers and the war could be won. Eventually some of the women had, had enough and were trying to get the troops to come home. The families may also have found it had to cope emotionally as they would have been filled with worry.
